February 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM ET Presenters: Heather Sachs, NDSS VP Advocacy & Public Policy and Jawanda Mast, NDSS Manager of Grassroots Advocacy Advocacy, simply stated, is using your voice to effect change. To help you to have the tools to effectively use your personal story to impact public policy change, the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) has created the NDSS Grassroots Advocacy Toolkit. This webinar will provide an overview of the tools NDSS provides to help you to be an effective advocate. NDSS is the leading advocacy organization for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the U.S. with a very large and effective grassroots network of committed, active and passionate volunteer advocates. The backbone of NDSS comprehensive grassroots advocacy efforts is the NDSS DS-AMBASSADOR® Program. During this webinar you will learn how individuals become NDSS DS-AMBASSADOR® Program participants and how the NDSS DS-AMBASSADOR® Program, NDSS State Advocacy Networks, NDSS Advocacy Alerts, social media, self-advocates, family members, affiliate leaders and local members are all critical, interrelated components of the Down syndrome grassroots advocacy movement. Even if you have never been involved in advocacy before, join us and learn how you and NDSS can work together to make a difference for people with Down syndrome.
