Icy roads, heavy snow cause accidents, train cancellations in parts of Germany Snow and ice continued to grip parts of northern Germany on Monday (February 8) where freezing temperatures led to slippery roads and traffic accidents. Near Bad Belzig on the A9 highway south of Berlin, a truck was seen lying on its side, blocking two out of three lanes. In the North Rhine-Westphalian university town of Muenster near the Dutch border, overnight heavy snowfall led to the cancellation of trains. "Snow like we haven't seen in decades," wrote local paper Westfaelische Nachrichten a day earlier "and the situation won't change any time soon."
