Italian sniffer dogs deployed ahead of Cortina 2021 opening ceremony Italian police and a team of sniffer dogs carried out security checks at the Dolomites venue of Cortina d'Ampezzo ahead of the 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships' opening ceremony. Police officers inspected seating areas and mountain lodges of Cortina, helped by sniffer dogs, including veteran detector 'Spok', a labrador sniffer expert in explosives. Spok, who is usually deployed at the Police Canine Unit of Bologna, was brought in to support the team in Cortina. The two-week championships will begin with the Opening Ceremony on Sunday (February 7) while competition will take place between February 8 to February 21. The event will be held without spectators due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Production: Fabiano Franchitti)
