Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself hoisted the green flag for this train via video conferencing. On this occasion, Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav joined the flag-off ceremony at Puri station for Vande Bharat Express. He traveled from Puri to Howrah on the new train and during a special conversation at the news station, Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav discussed his special connection with Odisha. He mentioned that Odisha has been his workplace, and he elaborated on his role in rescuing people in Balasore during Odisha's super cyclone. When asked about opposition parties politicizing Vande Bharat Express, he highlighted the achievements of the Modi government in railway development and emphasized the transparency in recruitment processes in the railways.
