The Railway Minister stated that with 55% of the country's freight transport belonging to the railways and 45% to the roadways, India will become globally competitive. The goal is to reduce logistics costs, benefiting the country, as logistics currently account for 13-14% of the GDP. The target is to bring this figure below 10% by 2030, as per the National Rail Plan.
