This inaugural Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) for Uttar Pradesh promises a fast, safe, and modern transportation solution for Meerut residents. Goel emphasized the metro’s transformative potential, stating, "The Meerut Metro will revolutionize urban mobility by enhancing connectivity, reducing travel time, and alleviating traffic congestion. It aims to boost productivity and contribute to regional economic growth." He noted the system's design focuses on commuter comfort and efficiency. Key features of the Meerut Metro include: Air-conditioned coaches with luggage racks, grab handles, CCTV, USB charging ports, and dynamic route maps. Three-car trainsets with 2x2 seating, accommodating over 700 passengers, and a seating capacity of 173. Safety features such as Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) at all stations, selective door opening, emergency communication systems, fire extinguishers, and reserved seating for women and senior citizens. Universally accessible stations and trains with dedicated space for medical stretchers and wheelchairs, along with spacious lifts. A modern exterior in fluorescent green, blue, and orange, reflecting technological progress and the aspirations of 'New India.' The Meerut Metro aligns with NCRTC's broader vision to modernize public transport, making urban travel more accessible, reliable, and sustainable.
