This week we saw Bitcoin hit a 17 month high, surging past $13,700 but then we saw it tumble all the way under $11,000. News about facebook’s plans to launch a cryptocurrency called Libra gave it an extra boost, causing it to skyrocket over the past few days. On Wednesday, it looked like Bitcoin might be heading towards $14,000 this week, but we then saw it tumble falling all the way below $11,000 on Thursday. Today the price is currently under $12,000. Many other cryptocurrencies followed in Bitcoin’s footsteps, experiencing losses.On June 26th, San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase confirmed that it had experienced a brief outage. It also registered its best daily performance since February of last year in terms of the trading volume.
