The Atlanta Hawks chose Onyeka Okongwu with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft on Wednesday night. The Hawks made a point to address their defensive issues by selecting the 6-foot-9 center out of the University of Southern California. Okongwu, who averaged 16 points and eight rebounds at USC, could provide a boost in the frontcourt alongside Clint Capela, John Collins, and others. The Hawks also drafted LSU guard Skylar Mays in the second round (No. 50). These were the first domino for the Hawks in a pivotal offseason where they’re expected to bolster their roster in hopes of making their first postseason appearance in four seasons.
