NathanBentleyDance's video: Yellow Hearts Nathan Bentley Choreography

@Yellow Hearts | Nathan Bentley Choreography
Hi everyone! This is one of my favorite parts of every video; getting an opportunity to just talk (or type) candidly about the piece that I'm sharing with you all today. It's been a month longer than I wanted it to be between posts, but the Shutdown Showcase is back in full swing! This is the second installment of my new series of videos. I explained this previously, but the idea of the series is to simply give back to the world some form of entertainment in a time where everything is tumultuous and uneasy. A lot of us have been stuck inside, afraid of the pandemic and afraid of the social unrest in this country, and we've all been consuming entertainment in the form of movies, video games, etc.. So I decided I would add to people's entertainment, to hopefully lighten someone's day, or to help you forget about the world around us for just a few minutes.... The piece I'm sharing with you today was actually never meant to be filmed in this way. The pandemic had many foreseeable consequences, and many consequences that we hadn't thought about beforehand. This piece being uploaded is a consequence of the pandemic in multiple ways. I made this dance this year for an advanced level class that I taught at one of my studios that I work at, but because of how the year ended, the piece was never going to be put on stage and presented the way I wanted it to, so I asked my students if they would be alright with me filming it and uploading it myself, and they were! So this piece, to me, is a big THANK YOU to my students and to my new home at Starline Academy of the Performing Arts. I would love to hear, from anybody who reads this description, what this piece means to YOU after viewing it. Did it mean a big smile on your face for almost 4 minutes? Did it mean you forgot about your worries for a little while? Did it mean inspiration and passion? I'd love to know, because after all, I do this for the love of it. This particular video took a total of 16 hours to create between choreography time, filming, and editing. 16 hours to create 3 minutes and 46 seconds of entertainment. If even ONE person finds themselves in a better place emotionally from watching this video, then that makes the entire 16 hour process completely WORTH IT. Thanks to anybody who read this far, your support means everything to me. (Special thank you to Brianna Antaya for filming this video for me!)
