The construction of the old 6th Gurkha Rifles Mess - present Piffer Mess was completed in 1911 under the supervision of Lft. Col J.B. Chatterton, the CO of 6th Gurkha Rifles 1908-1914 & it was bought from Gurkha Rifles by Frontier Force Regiment for Rs. 6,000 in 1947. Whereas, its extention work to its present size was undertaken in 1988 & 1993. Initially, it was the Officers Mess of the 6th Gurkha Rifles. Present AMC Mess is of the 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles (FF). After the independence , the Piffers Mess were located at Mardan, Sialkot, Abbotabad & Kohat for the Corps of Guides, 12 Frontier Force Regiment, 13 Frontier Force Rifles & the Pathan Regiment, respectively. The present building was made the Piffers Mess in 1956, when all the Piffer Regimental Groups were assembled under the central flag of Frontier Force Regiment at Abbotabad.
