Shipishun Meadows, Booni, Upper Chitral - Pakistan's Most Dangerous Jeepable Track [4K] The road less travelled is often the more interesting choice – at least when it comes to talking about one’s travels. Situated in Booni, a town and the headquarters of Upper Chitral District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, Shipishun Meadows spreads over an approximate area of 500 acres. The grassland is perfectly backdropped by the "Booni Zom"at 6,542 meters (The Buni Zom group is a prominent mountain area of Chitral, in the Hindu Raj range which is situated between the Hindu Kush and the Karakoram ranges). A seemingly endless lush-green carpet with colourful wild flowers makes the view of this pasture spectacular and a hit with photographers. The little-known meadows offer wonderful scenery and peace of mind. One can spend a full day without wishing to move any further. Spending a night in Shipishun is not a problem as visitors carry portable tents along. However, it gets really cold at night. How to Get to the Meadows? Winding 6 kilometres uphill, the meadows can be reached through a gravel track which is nothing less than a challenge. Only specially modified 4-wheel-drive vehicle can withstand the track that seems to disappear at every curve or behind massive rocks ahead. Tourists can hire the 4-wheelers in Booni, they charge around Rs. 5000 to 6000 is for the round trip. March, April and May are certainly the best months to visit this mesmerising tourist spot. When nature awakens, with lambs bouncing around the lush green fields and wildflowers blooming at their best and the earth seems to have come to the life again.
