Khaplu Palace, built in the 1840s by Raja Yabgo is locally known as Yabgo Khar, meaning "the fort on the roof" is an old fort and palace located in Khaplu, in Ganche District of Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan. The Palace has been brought back to life using a strategy of adaptive re-use and restoration by the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan (AKCSP), an institution of the Aga Khan Development Network. Serena Khaplu Palace is situated on the upper side of Khaplu Town; a town which characterizes the particularly rich and diverse cultural and architectural heritage of Baltistan with influences from both Tibet and Kashmir.
