The spouse of the deceased worker is also eligible for medical care on nominal contribution of Rs 120/- per year. The scheme also covers COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days after recovery from COVID-19. The worker who died due to COVID-19 disease must have been registered on the ESIC online portal at least three months prior to the date of diagnosis of COVID-19 disease, must be in employment on the date of diagnosis and at least 70 days' contribution should have been paid or payable for him during a period of maximum one year immediately preceding the diagnosis of COVID-19 disease. The claim for relief with COVID-19 positive report and death certificate of the worker can be applied to the Branch Manager of any nearest ESIC Branch Office. The claim will be settled in 15 days'form the date of submission of completed claim. COMPENSATION OF LOSS OF WAGES OF A WORKER DUE TO COVID-19 ISickness Benefit under ESI Act, 1948 at daily rate of 70% of average daily wages may be availed by a worker covered under ESI Act, 1948 to compensate the loss of wages for the period he/she remains absent from work due to sickness, certified by a medical practitioner. Maximum duration of sickness benefit is 91 days in one year For availing Sickness Benefit, contribution in respect of the worker should have been paid or payable for a minimum period of 78 days in corresponding half yearly contribution period. Claim for sickness benefit along with medical/ fitness certificate issued by the Medical Practitioner to be submitted in his designated ESIC Branch Office. Claim will be settled in 7 days. PAYMENT OF EXPENSES ON LAST RITES OF DECEASED WORKER In event of unfortunate death of a worker, covered under the ESI Act, 1948 a sum of Rs 15000/ paid either to the eldest surviving member or to the person who actually performs the last rites of the lInsured Person. The deceased worker should be an Insured Person on the date of his death. The claim can be submitted in the nearest ESIC Branch office. Claim will be settled in 7 days. GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL The details of the Public Grievance Redressal Officer of each state are available at the official website www.esic.nic.in. Grievances will be addressed within 15 days.
