@The backstory of "Sweet Adeline" written by Henry "Harry" W. Armstrong & Richard Gerard
The backstory of "Sweet Adeline" written (in 1896) by Henry "Harry" W. Armstrong with lyrics added by Richard Gerard (in 1899 and revised, as we know it in 1903) as told by Glenn Robison on his Sept. 6th, 2020, "Rapidly Rotating 78RPM Record" Catalina radio broadcast and podcast [https://www.glennrobison.com/ ] Including a stellar rendition of the song by The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet from 1938 Minor correction to Mr. Robison's commentary (since he asked): According the the Barbershop Harmony Society ( https://www.barbershop.org/), Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Spaeth were not "Founding Members" of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (established in 1938) but they were members -Spaeth in particular was involved in some of its earliest activities; while Mr. Spaeth's membership may have gone back to the late '30s, Armstrong became a member in the 1940s.
