@Has a Stoat's scent spooked this Water Vole?

It is not until you are able to review footage and see a Water Vole at close range, rather than as a small mammal on the opposite side of the brook whom you are trying to keep in the frame, that you realise that the Water Vole has picked up a scent. Probably of a Stoat which was seen upstream recently. All the Water Voles were moving very quickly, hugging the bank, or running up it, or running into a nearby burrow, or diving into the brook! None were inclined to sit in the open, but it was also quite cold today!
