Tomato onion chutney
Ingredients and method
1. In a jar add
Tomatoes - 2 Cups chopped
Onion - 1/2 cup chopped
Garlic - 2 to 3 cloves optional
Salt to taste
Chili powder - 1 tsp (Adjust)
Tamarind - very little piece
Jaggery - 1/4 tsp only if you want - I personally omit
Grind all to a smooth paste
No need to add any water while grinding
2. In a pan add
Sesame oil - 1.5 tblsp
Mustard, cumin, urad dal, chann dal - 1/4 tsp each
Dry red chili - 1
Curry leaves few
Fry well
3. Add the ground tomato onion paste
Clean the mixie with 1/2 cup water and mix it. This is important as we need to remove the raw smell of onion and chili powder and this mix needs to be cooked for 5 to 8 mins. They will become very thick if u dont add water. But this water add only after see the amount of liquid the tomato onion has generated. Some varities dont give enough water -so just adjust
4. Once the rawness goes off cook until desired consistency
