But it is especially the expression of the Greek civilisation that, as the artist explains, “includes Orthodox hymns and also a large variety of folk songs: songs of the sea, of the distant homeland and of love, which mirror the deep religious feelings of mankind” that finds its complete expression in music and in the chant. Il canto affidato a una sola voce, senza strumenti e basato sui cosiddetti toni ecclesiastici, si dipana tra odi e canoni, poemi, tropari e alleluia. Ma è soprattutto espressione della civiltà greca che, come spiega l’artista stessa “comprende l’innologia ortodossa ma anche una grande varietà di canzoni popolari: canzoni del mare, della lontananza dalla patria, dell’amore, che rispondono al profondo sentimento religioso dell’uomo”.
