Monday January 11th 2021 at 7:00PM EST ArtScapades returns to New Canaan Library with the second lecture of their 2020-2021 season…via Zoom! Watch ArtScapades from the comfort of your own home on Monday, January 11th at 7:00 pm as they discuss Crossing Cultures: Mexican Muralists to African-American Modernists In this lecture, ArtScapades will look at how the leading Mexican muralists, José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and David Alfaro Siqueiros, had an impact on the African-American artists working during this period. The work of the Mexican muralists inspired American artists including Hale Woodruff, Elizabeth Catlett, and Charles White, to use their art to protest economic, social, and racial injustices. Robin Hoffman (left) and Jodi Stiffelman (right), of ArtScapades, began teaching art appreciation in 1998. They have presented at libraries and museums in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Florida, and are returning for their thirteenth season at New Canaan Library.
