@New Canaan Library Presents: Business Succession Planning
In collaboration with the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, we invite all to join us for an informative, virtual workshop on Thursday, September 30 at 7 PM EST. If you are a business owner, you have undoubtedly spent a great deal of your time, energy and finances creating and running a successful business. When the time comes to move on to another phase of life, you want to leave your business in the best hands, and with the best plans in place. In this workshop, Connecticut attorneys Wesley D. Cain, Janie L. Mc Dermott, and Timothy S. Klimpl will cover many of the areas necessary to understanding one’s options, including the basic components and action items for a business succession plan, considerations to properly individualize a plan, and business, employment, tax, and estate planning factors, among other topics. Attorneys Cain, Klimpl, and McDermott practice in New Haven-based Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessy’s Business Services and Individual Client Practice Groups. Wesley D. Cain represents public and closely held businesses and non-profit organizations in all aspects of their operations, from formation and start-up through growth, ongoing operations, and exit planning. Wes also represents a broad range of individual estate planning clients. Wes formerly worked as a CPA specializing in financial services at one of the Big Four accounting firms. Timothy S. Klimpl is a seasoned attorney with experience providing ERISA advice and related services to a variety of plan sponsors and employee benefit plans, including corporate, nonprofit, multiemployer and governmental plans providing retirement, health, disability, dental and other welfare benefits. Tim chairs the Fairfield County Bar Association Employment Law Committee. Janie McDermott is an Associate in Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey’s Business Services and Real Estate practice areas. She provides guidance regarding the establishment and operation of charitable organizations and family foundations and assists clients through the estate planning and administration process. During law school Janie worked with Quinnipiac University School of Law’s Civil Justice Clinic, primarily on issues of juvenile justice reform.
