NewEnglandElevators's video: Cool Themed Deerfield Hydraulic Laser Storm Transporter Elevator - Hampshire Mall - Hadley MA

@Cool Themed Deerfield Hydraulic "Laser Storm Transporter"/Elevator - Hampshire Mall - Hadley, MA
(First elevator upload of 2016! Also, Rec. Jan 2016) In Pioneer Valley Massachusetts let alone the small town of Hadley, the last thing you would expect to find is a "Space Elevator." A revisit to this particular elevator...ahem..."Laser Storm Transporter" was inevitable. What a better way to kick off the year, than to watch me be transported to the 22nd century in space, and back to earth again in this Space Elevator or sorts? Okay...it's NOT REALLY a Laser Storm Transporter that will transport you to space and into the future, just a typical hydraulic elevator with a narration system installed. In case you haven't figured it out, this elevator transports patrons from the mall itself to the mall's mezzanine, where there is a Laser Tag (Laser Storm) arena and also a roller-skating rink. I'm not sure when this particular elevator was installed, possibly with the original construction of the mall in 1978, or later in the 1980's. At some point, the elevator was upgraded to the "Laser Storm Transporter seen here." Also, take note of the brand of the elevator itself, "Deerfield Elevator." I don't know of any other elevators in the area that were installed by this company. Other than that, seems like a typical elevator built up of Adams and GAL components. The elevator seems to run great, too! LOCATION INFO: The Hampshire Mall is a small one-story mall in Hadley, MA, which opened in 1978, most likely named after the county it resides in (Hampshire County). This particular section of the mall has a "mezzanine" in the center court with a Laser Tag arena and a Roller-Skating rink. I am not sure what the original purpose of the balcony was; possibly the skating rink or more stores. Interestingly enough nearby Holyoke Mall at Ingleside opened in 1979, both owned by Pyramid. Although it is much smaller than nearby Holyoke Mall, it still seems to bring in a lot of people with various things, such as a JCPenney store, some big-box anchors, smaller businesses, and a 12-screen Cinemark movie theater (replacing a six-screener built by AMC when the mall was built). It sits in a fairly populated section of Hadley on Highway 9, near UMASS Amherst. Although it is a smaller mall, it is definitely a neat one to check out. Speaker is on ceiling as well. Other Information: Elevator built up of GAL/Adams components by Deerfield elevator, possibly a local brand. Themed to be part of laser tag arena. Serves mezzanine area of mall. Unsure if it was installed with the original construction of the mall, or added later. TRIVIA: This is my 3rd experience with this elevator, my first one was in 2008, and the second in 2012. This isn't the first video I made of this elevator, check out this one I made in 2012! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7Lw4GjCHfw
