Tulse Hill Incident Terrifying Moment Man Brandishing Machete Is Tasered By Cops. This is the terrifying moment a man waved a massive machete at a busy train station in rush hour. A suspect was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident causing mass panic at Tulse Hill station. Footage taken by a horrified commuter shows a man, wearing khaki trousers, walk brazenly down a platform with the weapon in his right hand. "Oh my God, he's got a knife," one terrified passenger can heard saying. Another cries: "Oh my God, there's another sword." Others gasp in horror as the police swarm the man. British Transport Police's campaign slogan "See it, Say it, Sorted" can be heard over the train's public address system. He waves the machete in the air but is confronted by British Transport Police officers, whom stormed the station at around 6.30pm . He's seen staggering to the ground as officers Taser him. Witnesses said said "women were screaming" and a "small chaos" disturbed the Southern Rail station. Others online praised the police for their quick response to the incident. One Twitter user wrote: "Terrifying incident at Tulse Hill station where several of us had to run from a man wielding a machete." Conor Fortune, who was travelling away from central London, said he heard a male voice "shouting quite loudly". The train conductor then told passengers not to get off because there was "a dangerous man on the platform", the 39-year-old added. The man, from south-west London, said: "After several minutes of being sat on the platform, the driver announced that we were being held and she shut the doors as a precaution, and advised nobody to get off as there was 'a dangerous man on the platform'. "She informed us the police had been alerted and were responding." Cops said a 59-year-old man has been detained and is in custody. A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 6.30pm today, officers from British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police were called to Tulse Hill station after reports of a man in possession of a knife. "Police officers were quickly on scene and detained a man on the platforms at the station. During the detainment a Taser device was discharged. "The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon, he is being taken to custody. There are no reported injuries. "Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 478 of 14/01/2019. "This incident is not currently believed to be terror related." Tulse Hill Station, in the Lambeth area, is on a busy commuter line into central London from parts of Surrey and East and West Sussex. Services go into London Bridge from the Southern Rail station, which handles more than 2.3 million passengers each year.
