Hero Man Catches Baby After It Falls From Mum's Arms During Flat Block Fire Rescue. A man bravely saved a baby after it fell from its mum's arms during a rescue at an apartment block fire. The mother and tot were on a ledge in the residential area of Qitaihe, north eastern China, as a fire raged behind them. The blaze started in the stairwell between the first and second floors of the woman's building yesterday. Terrified neighbours and property management staff parked a small lorry underneath the woman's room in an attempt to rescue her. They used the vehicle to climb onto a ledge above to get even closer to the pair. The frantic mum was preparing to pass the baby down to one of three men trying to help them. But the infant slipped out of its coat and it started to tumble towards the ground. A quick-thinking rescuer then miraculously plucked the tot from the air. The crying infant was handed over to other rescuers as the rest of the team tried to help the mother. The clip ends before the woman is helped to the ground, but property management staff say both mother and child are safe. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated. No one was harmed during the incident.
