Huge Rat Spotted In Din Tai Fung Dumpling Restaurant. A giant rat has been captured on video casually walking along a kitchen benchtop at a restaurant in one of Australia's busiest shopping centres. Shocking footage shared to Reddit showing the rodent inside the kitchen of Din Tai Fung, a dumpling restaurant located in the food court at Westfield in Pitt St, Sydney. With the restaurant closed for the day, the rat appears to have taken the opportunity to search the empty kitchen for any remaining food scraps. Clearly visible from the seating area of the store, the rat can be seen walking along the benchtop where just hours earlier food was being hastily prepared. The patron who noticed the rat can be heard at one point of the video telling a Din Tai Fung staff member about the unwanted visitor. 'You don't see the rat? There's a rat right there,' he tells the staff member. As the man zooms in on the relaxed rat, it can be seen staring down the barrel of the camera. Disgusted social media users who joked the rodent may have been the secret star of the kitchen. 'Ratatouille starting his shift,' one user commented in reference to the children's film where a rat is secretly a star chef. Another was taken aback by the size of the rodent, commenting: 'I thought it was a possum for a second'. In a statement, Din Tai Fung said it had brought in pest control specialists after being made aware of the incident. 'Din Tai Fung has in place stringent food safety protocols. We take this matter very seriously,' they said. 'Once notified of this incident, we immediately activated our pest control specialists as well as professional cleaners to inspect and disinfect our premises as a priority 'Westfield Sydney, where this Din Tai Fung store is located, also arranged for pest control specialists to attend to the entire food court.'
