News Martin's video: Tim Tebow is on a mini-home run binge

Is Tim Tebow finally starting to get the hang of Triple-A pitching, or is this just a blip of power in an otherwise disappointing season?  The 31-year-old Mets left fielder pulled a Devin Smeltzer pitch over the right-field wall for a solo home run in the fourth inning of Syracuse’s 7-6 come-from-behind victory over the host Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday night.  It was the second homer on this road trip over the past week for the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, who now has three homers this season.  Tebow — who went 2-for-4 and scored two runs in the victory — is still hitting just .163 with a paltry 18 RBIs after this recent power display. But the former Jets and Broncos quarterback has a hit in five of his past six games. He is hitting .273 (6-for-22) with two homers and four RBIs over this stretch.  The Mets haven’t given up on Tebow yet, and maybe their faith is starting to be rewarded.  “I think the effort, the energy, all those things, I don’t think anybody can question,” Mets assistant general manager Allard Baird told The Post’s Mike Puma recently. “He has struggled. I think he would be the first one to tell you that. We are trying to continue to work on approach, get him in a good position to hit, that’s an ongoing thing.”
