ITALIEN, Rom : Silvio Berlusconi tritt ab: Nach langem Ringen will der umstrittene Regierungschef sein Amt aufgeben, sobald Italiens Euro-Sparpaket unter Dach und Fach gebracht ist. Die Verabschiedung der Sparpläne im römischen Senat ist Mitte November vorgesehen, im Abgeordnetenhaus könnte das Paket bis Monatsende abgesegnet werden. Zuletzt hatte Berlusconi seine absolute Mehrheit verloren. Der 75-Jährige war seit 1994 mit Unterbrechungen insgesamt mehr als zehn Jahre lang Ministerpräsident.
