@Amazon Answers Ep 8: Retail Arbitrage VS Private Label, Having a Unique Product, 50 vs 150 Reviews
In this episode we compare retail arbitrage and private label, we discuss the importance of having a unique product, and the level of competitiveness between 50 reviews and 150 reviews. 00:22 What are your thoughts on retail arbitrage in Canada vs private labeling? There are pros and cons to each. RA might be a good intro to the game. it helps you make the psychological leap over the mental barrier of "not being an online seller". You get a low-risk intro to eCommerce. PL gives you a lot more power of control in a way you distribute and advertise your product. You also start building your own brand, which is an asset in itself. However, FBA takes upfront cash. The more you invest into it, the faster it'll grow. 04:31 Do you agree with having a unique product is the only way to succeed and to avoid copycats? Although I think uniqueness is a key factor to success, I don't want you to fixate on having the perfectly unique product. While you should aim to have an improved version of what's out there, don't wait for that PERFECT product that will be your golden ticket. 07:34 Why do you recommend 150 reviews while JS recommends 50 How difficult is it to compete at each level? I talk about how I got 120 reviews within a month or so with the right tools (organically). It will depend on a few factors, such as sales and email response rate, but it's not a lot to compete on. I delve in deeper in the video. I hope you guys got some value out of this. Keep posting questions and I'll keep answering.
