For more thoughts visit the BLOG! www.nicolenichelle.com Not too long ago, Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin went to One Church LA on a discussion panel centered around their new book, “The WAIT.” The focus of the book is the pairs abstaining from sex before marriage -or celibacy with what seemed to be a supportive audience for the most part. But as always, someone took that opportunity to lecture/shame Meagan Good on her outward appearance. There’s some picture out there somewhere. the viewer deemed contrary to her and her husband’s message. Apparently it was SO bad that it had to be addressed in front of a crowd of hundreds and many more live streamers to the event. I discuss past experiences with people in the church on the same subject matter and how we might approach it in a way that is more positive for everyone involved. Should the church resort to body shaming women when it comes to sexuality discussions? Can you be in a healthy relationship even if it doesn’t look like the one portrayed in “WAIT”? Let me know what you think! MAC MELTDOWN MADDNESS Recently, MAC Cosmetics posted a picture to their instagram of model Maryse Kye wearing their lip color at Fashion Week. Within minutes their feed was inundated with extremely racist remarks including the n-word, comparisons to animals, you name it. It’s just so ironic that on a social media platform that celebrates the “Kylie Jenner Lip Kit” craze and has so many pages dedicated to over lining lip and makeup tutorials would trash someone who naturally has those features. Dude. The week before last, people were mad at Beyonce for saying she was proud of her husband’s Negro nose! Now folks are mad because a Black model with Black features is celebrated on social media? (long dramatic sigh). The discussion centers around racism in the beauty industry. MAC Cosmetics responded not too long after which was great but I have a smaaalll criticism on how they phrased it. Hey! We live and learn. Lot's of body shaming discussion here! Hope my videos get better and better and maybe help spark some more positive coco around some is the craziness! Much love. Stay positive!
