Non-fiction Filmmaker's video: DEAR BULLY teaser the Jason Bennett Almeida story

Through our time working to create healthy workplaces in America, we happened upon a story that had a lasting impact on us. We met Gail and her son, Jason (Jae). When we sat down to listen to Gail and Jae tell their story of Jae’s workplace abuse, we were saddened and angered to hear about all he had to endure. The stories of bullying that Jae experienced in his position as a registered nurse were both heartbreaking and infuriating. After the interview, we kept in touch with the family, in an effort to offer support as needed. We were heartbroken to hear the news of Jae’s suicide. This is why we are fighting so hard to change the climate of workplaces in America. Jae’s light was snuffed out way too soon. He left behind a hole that will never be filled. We decided to create a short documentary to honor Jae’s life and to help his mother, Gail, share his story. (This film documents his life and heartbreaking death.) We hope that Jae’s story will help others who are also being bullied at work. Perhaps learning about Jae will help them realize that suicide is not the answer, and that there is another way.
