Reportedly, she is the only successful pup to come out of 137 Arctic wolf embryos that were created. She was brought to term by a beagle, who she still lives with, though she will reportedly be transferred to Harbin Polarland, a theme park in China’s Songbei District. Arctic wolves, a subspecies of the gray wolf, are not considered endangered. However, researchers hope this work will have impacts on cloning endangered species, which has already started to be considered in the fight against extinction. In 2020, U.S. company Revive & Restore cloned the endangered black-footed ferret, as well as a Przewalski’s horse.
