Koto City( 江東市) Fireworks Festival (花火大会) along the famous Arakawa river August 1, 2019, Arakawa River, Koto-ku, Tokyo, Japan About 4,000 fireworks were launched from a barge on the Arakawa River for this annual hanabi taikai—and those watching from the river bank either side were just 150 meters away from the action. Because the event was held on a weekday the venue was a little less crowded than at other firework festivals in Tokyo with about 350,000 spectators. On the river, we saw some traditional Edo period style cruising boats decorated with Japenese lanterns. The show lasted for about one hour.
