She was born on May 15, 1974, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Kasthuri made her acting debut in the 1991 Tamil film "Aatha Un Koyilile" and went on to act in several successful films such as "Chinnavar", "Rasaiyya", "Ninaithen Vandhai", and "Tamizh Selvan". She has also acted in a few Malayalam and Telugu films. Apart from acting, Kasthuri is also a trained classical dancer and has appeared in several dance shows on television. She has also hosted a few television shows and participated in the reality show "Bigg Boss Tamil" in its third season.
