OPHIOxford's video: The Unremembered Nation - Bhutan by Karma Ura Magdalen College June 2022

Dasho Karma Ura, President of the Centre for Bhutan and GNH Studies, Visiting Fellow at OPHI, and Honorary Member of the SCR in Magdalen College, will present his most recent two-volume book Bhutan - The Unremembered Nation in which he provides a profound understanding of Bhutanese culture, society and history. Published by OUP, these volumes will provide a unique and enthralling treasure trove of knowledge and shared wisdom about the complex and little-known society and culture of Bhutan, and a reflection on Karma Ura’s personal experience of the land and its people. Dinah Rose, President of Magdalen College Oxford, Sir Simon Bowes Lyon KCVO, President of The Bhutan Society of the United Kingdom, Ulrike Roesler, Professor Oriental Studies and Sabina Alkire, OPHI Director will join Karma Ura to discuss his extensive research which brings his account of Bhutan to life. The speakers will unveil the politics, visual representation, and understanding of the well-being of the 'Unremembered Nation', and invite the audience to reflect on the inevitable changes all nations go through.
