TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - November 20th, 2014 is day many will never forget in Tallahassee and beyond. What started out as a night of studying in a college library, turned to tragedy because of one man who believed he was a victim of gang stalking. In the video that Myron May made days before the shooting his opening statements were, "Its with a heavy heart that I'm in front of you now. To make this video. Kind of my last words. Its really unfortunate that I have to make this video. See I am a victim of covert harassment and electronic harassment and gang stalking. I am what's called a targeted individual." Myron May, who was just 31 at the time, walked into Strozier Library on the campus of Florida State University and opened fire. Three people were injured during May's rampage. A shootout with police in front of the library ended violently with May being shot 24 times. What caused a seemingly well liked guy to plan a mass murder? Was it mental illness or, as May suggests, was it gang stalking? May said, "The goal of gang stalking is literally to drive a targeted individual crazy." If you search gang stalking on the internet, you can find thousands of people all over the world describing similar circumstances. There is an extensive online community of targeted individuals. Those who feel they are victims of gang stalking truly believe people are out to get them. According to May, "They employ isolation tactics they basically try to convince your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers that they should be keeping an eye on you for whatever reason." In a two hour video diary that may released before the shooting, he explains how and when he started to believe he was a targeted individual. In September of 2014 while May was living in Las Cruces, New Mexico he filed a police report. In the incident report, May tells police that someone put a camera in his apartment and that he was hearing voices coming through the walls. May began to believe family and friends were in on the conspiracy to make him crazy. May said, "They have employed these tactics against me as well and tried to make me appear to be a crazy person." Tyrone Dew, an advocate and victim of gang stalking said, it is hard to prove that gang stalking is not just in your mind, "It is virtually impossible to tell when someone is being attacked because you can not see these weapons that are being used against you, you can only see the effects that really just seem like symptoms." What unfolded that Thursday morning in November is a testimony of just how bad those suffering from mental illness can get. Through the entire process Myron May believed he was being stalked. In May's final video he prays, "Father forgive me for what I am about to do, forgive me of my sins. I am sorry my faith is so weak. This is the end of my story as a targeted individual."
