Oceanlab, University of Aberdeen's video: Mariana Trench - 10 545m - Amphipods

@Mariana Trench - 10,545m - Amphipods
Video footage from the University of Aberdeen’s Hadal-Lander deployed in the Mariana Trench from the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s Research Vessel Falkor. This video is from 10,545m deep in the Sirena Deep, the second deepest place in the world. The footage shows a rapid accumulation of small scavenging amphipods (Crustaceans or ‘hoppers’). No other large animals are seen beyond ~8200m and the bait is consumed incredibly fast. The Animals are thriving at pressures exceeding 1 ton per square centimetre and temperatures of around 2°C.
