Eric Denton and Bob "Monroe" Davis originated the band and recruited former bandmates Rusty Jones and Jonnie Gilstrap. Jesus Ortiz rounded out the lineup. They began recording and were finally picked up by a Japanese label, Alfa. It was in 1982 when they released the EP, "The Monroes". This single began gaining popularity in the San Diego area and would eventually land at # 59 nationwide. During this success, the band found themselves touring with Rick Springfield, Toto and the Greg Kihn Band. But Alfa folded in the U.S., which gave the band no publicity or promotion. Despite signing with another label, they never released another album and disbanded in 1988. There's been recent talk of a reunion tour.
