Several producers were involved with the production of the album, including Diplo, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin, Salaam Remi, Labrinth, The Neptunes and Max Martin. The album follows the genre of "revolutionary pop", which Usher had depicted and introduced in November 2011. The genre utilizes elements of electronic, R&B, soul, hip hop, and pop genres to create a new sound.
