Oglio's video: J R R Tolkien s Nam ri - Performed by The Fellowship

In 1952, three years before Namárië appeared in The Fellowship of the Ring (Book 2, Chapter VIII, Farewell to Lórien), J.R.R. Tolkien made a recording of Galadriel's famous farewell as a liturgical-style chant. In that first recording, the lyrics were different from the final version that appeared in print. You may first a version closer to the author's original recorded chant in The Treason of Isengard, pp. 284-285. Modern Tolkien Scholars find it nearly impossible to translate the proto-Quenya. That is often a problem with ancient manuscripts. Our recording features the voice of Cirque du Soleil singing sensation, Kate St. Pierre.
