Oglio's video: Eala Earendel by The Fellowship

@Eala Earendel by The Fellowship
To the Saxons, the planet Venus was Earendel the Wanderer, a mariner who sailed the skies as a herald to the Sun. Tolkien's EƤrendil was born from these ancient legends. Like his Nordic counterpart, he was a mariner who sailed over the Sundering Seas. This excerpt from the 9th century Saxon poet Cynewulf's beatific poem, Cryst is also noteworthy because it mentions "Middle-earth." In our arrangement Caitlin Elisabeth sings and plays the rebec, an ancient relative of the violin. The song makes great use of oblique organum harmonies. This digitally re-mastered performance of the song is only available on the Second Edition of the album from Oglio Records. For more information visit inelvenlands.com.
