Guruji talim ganpati 2022 पुणे गणपती विसर्जन मिरवणूक 2022 Pune ganpati visarjan crowd Guruji Talim Ganpati Mandal is the Manacha Tisra or the third most revered Ganpati in the city. Situated at Ganpati Chowk on Laxmi Road, this mandal was the first in the city to spread the message of communal harmony. The mandal was started by two Hindu and two Muslim families. The families of Bhiku Pandurang Shinde and Vastad Nalband played an important role in establishing the mandal. The mandal also holds the rare distinction of being the pioneer in celebrating the festival on a public forum, much before Lokmanya Tilak started the tradition in 1893. The mandal got its name from the wrestling pit and gymnasium, situated near Ganpati Chowk. The wrestling pit was named after its instructor who was referred to as Guruji. In the initial years, the idol used to be installed at the talim which was later shifted to Ganpati Chowk. While celebrating the centenary year in 1987, the mandal decided to do away with the subscription collected from nearby traders and residents to celebrate the festival. Since then, the mandal celebrates the festival with the money collected from the core members who contribute to the festival. Dating back to the year 1887, Guruji Talim is given the third place in the honoured Ganpati's list in Pune. A symbol of unity between Hindus and Muslims of the city, this idol was established by Shinde and Nalban family of the city. Since this Ganpati pandal was formed way before Lokamanya Tilak established Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav, this pandal holds the 3rd place.
