Primo Scala led his accordion band for over 20 years with a break during WW2 when he reverted to his real name Henry 'Harry' Bidgood, as having an Italian sounding name could have been awkward. Harry also recorded profusely under his own name He was also musical director on some of George Formby's films The Keynotes were formed in 148 by Johnny Johnston who would also form The Johnston Brothers. Early members were Pearl Carr, Terry Devon, Cliff Adams, Irene King and Alan Dean as well as Johnny. Signed to Decca they backed many of the Decca stables big stars.
