Directed by Thomas Vinterberg, ‘Another round’ is a Danish entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards. This Danish comedy drama just won the Gothenburg film festival Audience Award. It tells the story about four friends working as schoolteachers at the same school facing a midlife crisis. They decide to do an experiment based on the theory that the human body was born with too low of an alcohol level, and that a 0.05 % BAC can keep them tension free and relieve them from personal pain. But, the real trouble starts when they cannot keep control of the alcohol intake and soon realize that it is costing them both their jobs and one of their friend’s lives. Directors Statement: “We want to create a tribute to alcohol but it goes without saying we also want to paint a nuanced picture. Embedded in our examination of the essence of alcohol lies an acknowledgement that people die from - and are destroyed by - excessive drinking.
