Ulica se nalazi na desnoj strani Miljacke, u središtu grada. Proteže se od Ulice Maršala Tita do Ulice Mehmed-paše Sokolovića. Pripada mjesnom području “Trg Oslobođenja - Centar”. Sastoji se od ravnog i strmog dijela (stepenište). U osmanom razdoblju nosila je naziv Kutubegovica, Turbegovica i Tubegovica. Godine 1919. ravni dio ulice nazvan je Krekova, po slovenačkom političaru i publicisti dr Janezu Kreku. Strmi dio ulice zadržao je ime Tubegovica. U vrijeme njemačko-ustaške okupacije, od 1941-1945. godine, Krekova ulica je dobila ime Ulica Nadbiskupa Ivana Šarića, po vrhbosanskom nadbiskupu. Od 1945-1946. godine ponovo je Krekova, a od 1946-1994. godine nosila je ime Radojke Lakić, po heroju oslobodilačkog rata 1941-1945. godine, Radojki Lakić. Ovo ime odnosilo se na cijelu trasu ulice. Od 1994. godine naziv ulice je Kaptol, pošto je u toj ulici rezidencija vrhbosanskog nadbiskupa i Nadbiskupski Ordinarijat. The street is located on the right side of the Miljacka River, in the central part of the city. It stretches from Maršala Tita Street to Mehmed-paše Sokolovića Street. It belongs to the local community of Trg Oslobođenja - Centar. It consists of flat and steep parts (stairs). In the Ottoman period, it was named Kutubegovica, Turbegovica and Tubegovica Street. In 1919, the flat part of the street was named Krekova Street after the Slovenian politician and publicist Dr. Janez Krek. The steep part of the street kept the name Tubegovica Street. At the time of the German-Ustasha occupation, from 1941 to 1945, Krekova Street was named Nadbiskupa Ivana Sarića, after the Archbishop of Vrhbosna. From 1945-1946, it was renamed into Krekova Street and from 1946-1994, it carried the name of Radojka Lakić, hero of the Liberation War. This name referred to the entire line of the street. Since 1994, the name of the street has been Kaptol, where the residence of the Archbishop of Vrhbosna and the Archbishop Ordinariate are located.
