@Tooth Replacement - Should I Get a Bridge or an Implant? - Oral Care Club
Tooth Replacement - Should I Get a Bridge or an Implant? Oral Care Club founder Dr. Jim Ellis discusses whether you should get an implant or a bridge, for a missing tooth. Learn more at http://www.oralcare.club If you are missing a tooth and looking for a permanent replacement, you have 2 options: a bridge or a dental implant. But which one is right for you? A bridge replaces the missing tooth by capping the 2 adjacent teeth and adding a prosthetic tooth in the middle. This option is great for patients that have surrounding teeth that can benefit from a cap. This is also the quicker and cheaper option, as it does not require oral surgery. An implant is a single tooth which is mounted to a surgically implanted post. The advantages are that it does not effect other teeth. However, it is more expensive and does require more time to complete. As for which is better.... neither. Both are adequate replacements, and which you choose may depend on your particular situation, so you need to discuss that with your oral care professional.
