Tiene gran auge en Colombia e Hispano-américa desde los años 80, llegando a sonar incluso en Europa y Estados Unidos. Su vocalista, letrista y líder es Elkin Ramírez reconocido por la particular técnica vocal que usa y que ha caracterizado al grupo desde sus inicios.
