Othering & Belonging Institute's video: Can You See it GOTV2020 GOTV

"Can You See It?" is a digital short released in the lead up to the 2020 election that calls on Californians—particularly young voters and youth of color—to exercise their civic power to address the state’s major structural inequalities. Produced by the Othering & Belonging Institute's Blueprint for Belonging project in partnership with California Calls, We Are California, and Time of Day Media, the video is part of our larger strategic narrative effort to restore public confidence in government and its capacity to address inequality by making the public sector more responsive to community needs, rather than corporate profits. As communities of color have built their organizing and civic power, California has changed policies on the environment, created sanctuary city laws, and gotten rid of Three Strikes laws—all hard fought victories towards belonging. But still, we’re the richest state with the biggest homeless population, crumbling infrastructure, and underfunded schools. Voters can build off their legacy of social justice in 2020 by making their voices heard at the ballot box.
