@S1E04 | OVERLAND CAMPING TOUR OF SRI LANKA - DAY 2
Ella to Udwalawa via Namunukula is a scenic route, testimony for the variety of landscape of island nation. Ella stands 1000m above sea level has the ideal condition for tea plantation and home for some of those finest Ceylon tea that world enjoys. As much as tea is vital part of Sri Lankan economy and lifestyle, Rice has been the center of Sri Lankan agro. While the monarchs were ruling the island, it was known to produce a major excess of rice feeding to neighboring countries as well. As we descend from the mountains the tea estates were replaced by endless paddy fields and more bushy trees usually known to withstand long dry season. Highlighting the fact temperatures also rose as we come down from mountains. Udawalawa is an area known for elephants and the Sugar cane plantation. Let's go See Jumbos and taste some fresh sugar cane...
