The Odachi Carbon Core Kayak Paddle by Werner brings their bomber reputation to the race paddler. It was designed from the ground up specific for down river and creek race, in collaboration between their engineers and some of the best racers in the world. As race courses are more commonly set on harder and harder runs, Werner wanted to assure that going fast didn’t have to mean worrying about your paddle. With an increased blade to shaft offset, this blade forward design gives you a more powerful catch and more verticality through the power phase, while the greater dihedral stabilizes powerful forward strokes through turbulent conditions. Made with a race inspired blade tip, the symmetrical shape gives you more surface area, for more efficiency when matching a more vertical race stroke, and the subtle scoop offers more purchase. Dynel edging, an extremely abrasion and impact resistant edge material, protects the fine-tuned carbon blades from the elements, because you still hit rocks when you go fast. The Odachi has an all carbon whitewater race shaft optimized for flex, strength and light weight, and is available in either a straight or bent shaft. The neutral bent shaft aligns your wrists in a more ergonomic position, and reduces fatigue. Neutral bent means the blade, ferrule and grip are in a straight line for the familiar feel of a straight shaft. Design features that make this paddle fast, also make for a unique feel in your hands, bracing and rolling are different. The Odachi is not intended to be an all around paddle.
