Ov's video: Super Metroid Any in 41:19 05

@Super Metroid (Any%) in 41:19.05
Be sure to read the description below for information about this run! This is my first Super Metroid personal best speedrun in over 5 years, my 115th completed Any% run of this current Any% grind that I started this year, and an improvement of ~13.7 seconds to my previous Any% personal best of 41:32 from April 2019. Since then, there have been quite a few developments, including a faster Baby Skip known by most as "Stashio Skip". I have also implemented quite a few strategic improvements. Some of these were known at the time of my previous run, but I chose not to implement them due to my own inconsistency and/or lack of understanding. This includes but is not limited to Wasteland clip, Phantoon air dopplers, Kraid hardcore lag reduction (the spike bouncing being a Celabeat creation AFAIK), Draygon rain dance, and a different approach to Botwoon. Another thing I decided to change was my choice of going "15/10" by skipping the pack above Charge Beam as opposed to the pack outside Wave Beam. In hindsight, I feel skipping the Charge pack was pretty silly. With a cap of 10 compared to 15, 2-rounding Phantoon is significantly more difficult, particularly on the faster pattern sets, and 1-rounding Phantoon (without the frame-perfect Super trick) is nigh impossible. Even though skipping Charge Missile is faster in theory, especially if you don't attempt going for the standard 15-missile-doppler 1-round, it still adds too much volatility to Phantoon to be worth it. As far as specific mistakes go: - Some strange inputs while leaving Phantoon (don't think I've ever quite done that before) - Missed Wasteland speedball (a common issue for me - and particularly costly unfortunately) - Fell down in the first Maridia room (accidental diagonal input broke my spin) - Some Maridia escape slop - Bad MB2 red/rainbow delay (typical, but could've potentially prevented had I risked a point-blank 60th shot this run) Based solely on this run, I can definitely push for a 41:0X, which I would likely be satisfied with for the time being. 40 with my current strats and level of play will require nearly all the stars to align for me in the same run, so I'm uncertain about it. Thanks to all the viewers that came by during my ~100 hour practice grind across multiple streaming sessions between July and September 2023 prior to my brief thumb injury, especially those that provided info and tips when learning things like clockwise Baby Skip and boss strat changes. Stashio, Firebat, AMH, ARC, Eddie, Ruya, among others. In regards to my stream, thank you to Charles for helping me understand how microphones work, Zeni for providing me with the input display I needed (fun fact: this was the very first run I did with it!), and Firebat for helping code a few custom split timings for me in the autosplitter, among other things. Special thanks to Waffle House for being there for me. 💜 I completed this run live on Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2183402211.
