Oxfam GB's video: Update on response in Dominican Republic Coronavirus Oxfam

@Update on response in Dominican Republic | Coronavirus | Oxfam
Update from Camila Rodriguez humanitarian program coordinator in the Dominican Republic. The social distancing and the shut down of all non-essential services in the country during the Covid-19 pandemic left many people without incomes. Moreover, in a country where 54% of the population work in the informal economy and rely on daily work to earn money, they witnessed cuts or total loss of their source of incomes. Thanks to Oxfam's supporters, more than 4,000 vulnerable families will receive money transfers to fulfil basic needs. We’re deeply concerned about how coronavirus will affect people living through conflict, disaster and poverty, people who are often already struggling without vital basics like water, food and sanitation. In many countries worldwide, this pandemic is a crisis on top of crisis. Oxfam’s humanitarian staff and partners are working hard to help stop the spread. We’re providing vital support like handwashing facilities, clean water, toilets and soap in the most vulnerable communities. Work like this has helped contain deadly disease outbreaks such as Ebola and cholera – and it will protect people against this virus. You can help right now.
