In the late 1600s, at the Battle of Saraighat and the Battle of Alaboi, Lachit Borphukan, a commander and borphukan in the Ahom kingdom, is credited with successfully halting the Mughal Empire's imperial expansion. The Battle of Saraighat was the last battle between Mughals and Ahoms, after the mighty Mughals imminent defeat, under the expert guidance and battle-driven force of Lachit Borphukan. He continues to this day to be admired for his leadership and perseverance in the face of overwhelming challenges.
